Los Angeles, CA — Laura W. Brill, Founder & CEO of The Civics Center, issued the following statement to the 16 million future voters now in US high schools regarding their role in strengthening our democracy following passage of the SAVE Act by the US House of Representatives.
Dear Future Voters,
A majority in the US House of Representatives has approved the so-called SAVE Act – a bill that is designed to make it harder for you to register to vote and make your voices heard.
It’s the exact opposite of what our country’s leaders should be doing.
You have power in numbers, including the power to register to vote right now. You also have the power to call on your Senators to stand up for democracy and your ability to participate equally and to stop the SAVE Act from going any further.
Don’t be discouraged. Stay engaged. Speak up. Your voices matter.
